Some OFWs in Qatar to join ‘zero remittance’ move vs. ‘pork’

Members of migrant workers’ group Migrante in Qatar announced Tuesday that they will not remit money to the Philippines on September 19 in support of the group’s call for a “zero remittance day (ZRD)” in protest against the pork barrel system.

In a statement, Migrante-Qatar chairperson Sonia Miralles said the day-long non-remittance of money by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Middle Eastern country is an expression of their collective outrage against the “great crime” committed by government officials involved in the alleged P10-billion peso pork barrel scam.
