Robbers dead in Batangas

STO. TOMAS, Batangas – Two robbery-holdup suspects were killed in a nearby city during a high speed police pursuit by responding policemen shortly after they robbed a gasoline station here Friday night.

Supt. Barnard Danie Dasugo, Sto. Tomas chief of police, identified one of the two slain robbers as Christopher Salazar, alias “Atay,” 36, a resident of P. Carandang St., Barangay Poblacion 3, Tanauan City. The other suspect remained unidentified.

It was learned that the suspects robbed and divested P1,500 from the cashier of Caltex gasoline station in Barangay San Roque at around 10 p.m. Friday. Dasugo said his men from mobile patrol were conducting a roving patrol when they were informed by employees about the incident.

They immediately chased the robbers who quickly escaped boarded a white Racal motorcycle towards Tanauan City. The suspects then opened fire at the responding policemen but they decided to abandon their get-away vehicle upon reaching J.P. Laurel highway corner Dimayuga St., Barangay Poblacion, Tanauan. The shootout ended along J.V. Pagaspas St. where the suspects were both shot dead.
