De Lima, whistleblowers to attend Senate inquiry to avoid Constitutional ‘issue’

After being berated by Sen. Teofisto Guingona III during a public inquiry on the pork barrel fund scam, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has agreed to appear anew before the Senate on Thursday and bring along whistleblowers in the mess, if only to prevent a “cobstitutional issue” from being raised.

“I’ll be appearing tomorrow in obedience to the subpoena issued yesterday (and) that I intend also to say my piece there before the start of the hearing,” De Lima told reporters in Manila on Wednesday, adding that the whistleblowers will also appear because they were covered by a subpoena issued by the Senate requiring their presence.
