NDRRMC: 81 die, hundreds hurt in Visayas

The reported death toll due to the 7.2 magnitude tremor has reached to 81 people while more than 100 others were injured, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).

However, this number of casualties is subject for validation in the earthquake’s affected areas.

As of press time, Major Reynaldo Balido Jr., spokesman of the NDRRMC, reported that out of the reported 81 deaths, 15 were from Cebu, 1 in Siquijor while 65 people died in Bohol based on the data transmitted by the Tagbilaran CityDisaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).

The Tagbilaran CDRRMC also reported that the number of injured persons in Bohol had already reached to 106 while the number of damaged churches in Bohol was 22 including the historic Loboc Church.

Balido said that their office will monitor and validate the  reported number of casualties as well as the damage to properties and structures in Visayas and Mindanao.
