Ex-CJ Andres Narvasa dies

Former chief justice Andres Narvasa passed away yesterday, the Supreme Court Public Information Office announced on its official Twitter account, @SCPh_PIO.

The 19th chief justice of the country was 84. According to his son Atty. Ogie Narvasa, his father died at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday. He served from December 1, 1991 to November 30, 1998.

Born November 30, 1928. Narvasa finished his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines, graduating magnacum laude in 1951. He placed no. 2 in the Bar Examinations.

He was a member of the Agrava Fact-Finding Board that investigated the assassination of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino, Jr. “Details of his wake and funeral to follow,” the Supreme Court PIO said. (PNA)
