Napoles asks for postponement

Manila, Philippines – Detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles has asked the Senate to postpone her scheduled appearance before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee this coming Thursday, Nov. 7, due to the absence of a legal counsel.

Napoles, in her letter to Senate President Franklin Drilon and Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Teofisto “TG” Guingona III, asked the Senate leadership to defer its probe until such time she is able to find a lawyer who would represent her.

Last week, her lawyer, Atty. Lorna Kapunan, formally withdrew as legal counsel for Napoles in all of her cases, saying she would no longer represent the businesswoman even in the pending illegal detention case filed against her before the Makati Regional Trial Court.
