MANILA, Philippines – The long-awaited rehabilitation of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 will finally begin on Thursday, in time for the Department of Transportation and Communications’ (DOTC) 115th founding anniversary.
The three-decade old terminal will have new toilets, stronger ceilings and more exit taxiways so that there will be more plane take-offs and landings.
NAIA-1 has a capacity of just 4 million, but passenger arrivals already reached 8 million last year.
