Phl not a dumping ground: BOC to file case vs Canada trash importer

MANILA, Philippines – Bureau of Customs (BOC) officials said Thursday that they are filing charges against importers who brought in trash from Canada to the Philippines.

At a televised press briefing, BOC Commissioner Sunny Sevilla said those who will be charged are the owner and customs broker of Chronic Plastics, a company based in Valenzuela City.

More than 450 Indian migrants dead in Qatar in 2012-13

New Delhi (AFP) – More than 450 Indian migrants working in Qatar have died in the last two years, according to new data from the Gulf state which is under pressure over its rights record ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

In response to a Right to Information request filed by AFP, the Indian embassy in Qatar gave figures detailing the number of deaths in 2012 and the first 11 months of 2013.

Five of seven missing divers rescued, sent to Bali hospitals

(CNN) — Five of seven Japanese women who disappeared during a diving excursion off the Indonesian island of Bali last week were found alive and rescued Monday, Bali’s search and rescue agency said.

Photos distributed by Getty Images showed some of the women being transferred from a boat to ambulances on Bali on Monday, three days after they were reported missing. The women were being treated at two Bali hospitals Monday, the rescue agency said.

Pinoys among top mobile porn viewers, Pornhub survey shows

More and more Filipinos are accessing pornographic content on mobile devices, with most of them doing so late at night.

This was the finding of porn site, which said Filipinos ranked a “solid” 15th for visitors using mobile devices in 2013.

“In 2013, the Philippines ranked 26th in worldwide traffic to Pornhub, but interestingly they ranked a solid 15th for visitors using mobile devices. That’s quite a significant difference!” it said.

Trafficking charges sought vs PH embassy official in Kuwait

MANILA, Philippines – A Philippine embassy official has been implicated in the trafficking of migrant workers in Kuwait.

In an initial report by the Kuwait Anti-Trafficking Task Force released Friday, January 17, trafficking and other related charges were recommended against Philippine consul Ibrahim Daligdig Tanandato, two embassy-hired contractuals, two embassy-hired lawyers, and 3 recruiters.
